Exploratory research determines and meets the future needs of actuaries and the actuarial profession. It ensures that the profession remains relevant in a changing world. Exploratory research includes: 

• Applying actuarial methods and techniques in non-traditional ways; 
• Developing new solutions to traditional financial security problems; and 
• Exploring topics of emerging interest.
