Consultations
As part of our commitment to transparency and engagement, we regularly hold consultations open to our members and the public. These consultations provide an opportunity for individuals, organizations and communities to share their insights and contribute to the development of fair and responsible practices within the actuarial profession and within the broader landscape of public and private decision making.

New consultations
The Professionalism and Credential Monitoring Board (PCMB) is consulting with members and stakeholders on proposed revisions to the Qualification Standard – Requirements for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The proposed changes follow the PCMB’s quinquennial review and are intended to provide clearer guidance on appropriate CPD activities, improve CPD recordkeeping and address issues identified through recent audits.
Key proposed changes include introducing foundational principles for CPD, adding a 10-hour cap on certain self-study activities, clarifying when members may rely on another actuarial association’s CPD requirements, and enhancing guidance on CPD monitoring, audits and recordkeeping.
Members and stakeholders are invited to provide comments by October 2, using the online form or by email to Lynn Blackburn, Director, Governance and Professional Standards. A webcast on September 14 will explain the changes and provide members with an opportunity to ask questions of PCMB leadership.
If approved, the revised standard would take effect on January 1, 2027, and apply beginning with the CPD 2027-28 reporting cycle, for filing in 2029.
