The actuarial community unites in Toronto and Montreal

The evenings of February 19 and 20 were filled with lively conversation, reconnections with colleagues, and the welcoming embrace of a diverse community in Toronto at Rhum Corner and in Montreal at Kamúy. The Institute, along with the International Association of Black Actuaries, the Casualty Actuarial Society and the Society of Actuaries, hosted two gatherings in celebration of Black History Month.

These occasions proved to be a highlight of this notably cold winter month, creating an amiable space where professionals from across the actuarial field come together. One participant shared, “This event has become one that people look forward to – an actuarial event where you reconnect with people you haven’t seen in a while.”

“We’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with our partners to bring the actuarial community together,” says Alicia Rollo, Director, Education and International Affairs. “Events like these create opportunities to connect beyond our work, strengthening both our profession and the broader Canadian communities we serve.”

While the calendar turns on another Black History Month, the CIA supports and celebrates Black actuaries year-round. Resources for Black Actuaries and Allies shares valuable opportunities to engage with the community and drive meaningful change in the actuarial profession.
