At its meeting on August 31, 2026, the Actuarial Standards Board (ASB) decided to promulgate the use of the following mortality table, effective April 1, 2027, for determining commuted values for all pension plans subject to the SOP:
- Base mortality table: the combined 2024 Canadian Pensioner Mortality Table (CPM 2024), reflecting amount-weighted rates, separate rates for males and females and no separate mortality table for survivors, as published in the 2024 Canadian Pensioner Mortality Research Project Report (Mortality Base Table Report). Appropriate blended mortality rates should be assumed for non-binary members or where no information on sex at birth or gender is disclosed.
- Mortality improvements: MI-2024 improvement scale as published in the Mortality Improvements Research report (Mortality Improvement Report).
