Position statement

I am honoured to put my name forward as a candidate for the CIA Board.

For more than a decade, the CIA has been central to my professional commitment. Serving the profession as a volunteer has been both a privilege and a responsibility – one that I have embraced with dedication and humility. Over the years, I have contributed in a wide range of capacities, including participation on the committee that established the pension accounting discount rate curve, representation on international accounting matters, service as an international ambassador for the CIA and chairing the International Relations Council, as well as my role as an ex officio member of the Board. I have also represented the profession as a speaker at the Quebec national assembly, among many other engagements.

These experiences have provided me with a broad and deep perspective on our profession – its strengths, its responsibilities and the challenges it must continue to navigate. They have reinforced my conviction that the CIA plays a critical role not only in setting high professional standards but also in supporting sound public policy, strengthening trust in actuarial work and contributing meaningfully to the well-being of Canadian society.

I am seeking a position on the Board because I want to continue making a meaningful contribution to the profession. At a time of rapid economic, demographic and regulatory change, the CIA must remain forward-looking, relevant and influential. Achieving this requires strong governance, thoughtful engagement with stakeholders and a clear strategic vision – one that balances innovation with the rigour, integrity and professionalism that define us as actuaries.

If elected, I would bring to the Board a strong sense of stewardship, an international perspective and a collaborative leadership style. I am deeply committed to supporting the CIA’s members, strengthening its voice nationally and internationally, and reinforcing its contribution to the public interest. I believe our profession has a unique and essential role to play in helping Canadians understand and manage long-term risks, and I am motivated to help the CIA lead in fulfilling that role.

I am extremely proud of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and of the professionalism, expertise and values it represents. It would be an honour to serve on the Board and to continue giving back to the profession that has given me so much.

Thank you for your consideration and for your continued commitment to the CIA.
