Position statement
I am running for the CIA Board because I believe we stand at a pivotal moment: with the implementation of the CIA education system, we have the opportunity to foster strong new member involvement and enhance the value proposition of the CIA for members at all stages of their career.
As an early-career actuary, I’ve been exposed to a diverse range of P&C skills applied to Canadian and international markets. My career has been based in making connections with actuaries at home and abroad, collaborating on a shared vision with a diverse set of skills and opinions, and adapting to quickly changing conditions. At Intact, I play a role in shaping the current view of our strategic software in commercial and specialty lines coordinating and collaborating with actuarial, underwriting and IT stakeholders to work towards a shared vision for our strategic positioning. My involvement with the CIA early in my career stems from a recognition of the value the Institute brings to its membership, to give back to the community and represent the new members that will come in from our educational system.
The value of the CIA comes from the contributions of our members. The CIA depends on its ability to engage members at every career stage and across all practice areas. Our volunteers are our strength in outputting research, providing guidance and contributing to our educational pathways. We must focus on the feedback loop between the value proposition the CIA offers to attract members to contribute, which in turn strengthens that value proposition.
The successful implementation of the CIA education system represents a pivotal moment for our profession; it is now the first impression new members have of the CIA and an opportunity for early-career engagement. Engagement begins with clearly articulating what the CIA offers beyond providing credentials and CPD management: professional development opportunities, national networking, practice-relevant research and a community that supports career growth. My focus is on creating opportunities for actuaries at all experience levels to contribute their perspectives, volunteer and see tangible value in their membership.
Remaining a modern actuarial organization of choice requires acting on member feedback. We need mechanisms that capture what matters to new graduates, mid-career professionals and seasoned practitioners alike. By demonstrating responsiveness to members’ needs, we build trust and loyalty that translates into active participation.
My vision is straightforward: by focusing on member engagement as our foundation and education as our path forward, we build a stronger CIA where every member has a way to contribute to the profession, supported by an education system that sets the global standard for actuarial qualification.
I welcome the opportunity to bring an early-career perspective to the Board and to work collaboratively on these critical priorities. Together, we can ensure the CIA continues to be the actuarial organization of choice for Canadians in our profession.

After achieving my ACIA, I began by contributing to ACIA Module 2 corrections; following my FCIA, I joined the FCIA Examination, Module and Syllabus Committee – P&C track (FEMSC-PC), where I serve as Vice-Chair. Outside of the actuarial world, I’ve been involved as a coach in minor-league hockey for the past five years.
