Angelita Graham begins term as CIA President for 2025-26

The Institute is pleased to announce that Angelita Graham, FCIA, has assumed the role of President for the 2025-26 term, effective July 1, 2025. Based in Ontario, Angelita brings a distinguished record of leadership, volunteerism and advocacy to her new role.

Throughout her career, Angelita has been a dedicated contributor to the CIA and a passionate advocate for professional excellence, education and public interest. With two decades of service to the Institute, she has helped shape many of the policies, practices and strategic directions that define the Canadian actuarial landscape.

Leading with purpose

Angelita’s volunteer journey with the CIA began in 2008 with the Committee on Continuing Education. Since then, she has taken on increasingly significant roles, including Chair of the Eligibility and Education Council, Director on the CIA Board, and member of the Task Force to Review the CIA Bylaws. In recognition of her sustained impact and leadership, she was awarded the Award of Excellence in 2020 at the CIA Legacy Awards.

Over the years, Angelita has championed forward-looking initiatives, particularly in the areas of actuarial education, governance and professionalism. Her deep experience across the CIA’s volunteer structure – from education and examinations to bylaws, standards of practice and public interest – has equipped her with the insight and perspective necessary to guide the profession through an era of rapid change.

Focusing on education and public interest

In her presidential year, Angelita is prioritizing two key themes: education and the public interest.

“I am particularly passionate about continuously monitoring and adapting our education system to meet the evolving needs of our profession and society. We must ensure actuaries remain at the forefront of industry trends, technological advancements and regulatory changes.”

Angelita is an advocate for integrating emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and predictive analytics into actuarial practice. She believes these tools can enhance the profession’s effectiveness while maintaining the rigorous standards and critical thinking that actuaries are known for.

In the public sphere, Angelita sees an expanding role for actuaries. She is committed to elevating the CIA’s voice in public-policy discussions and supporting efforts to ensure the Institute’s positions are well informed and representative of its members.

Inclusion and collaboration

Angelita’s leadership style is collaborative and inclusive. A strong proponent of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), she serves as co-executive sponsor of her organization’s DEI council and other such external groups. Her commitment to fostering a more equitable profession aligns with the CIA’s mission to serve the public interest and support a diverse membership.

Her work on various CIA councils and committees has demonstrated her ability to navigate complexity, build consensus and drive strategic initiatives forward.

Looking ahead

With her proven track record and deep passion for the profession, Angelita is well-positioned to lead the CIA into its next chapter. The Institute welcomes Angelita to her new role and looks forward to the energy, vision and integrity she brings to her presidency.
