Canadian talent shines in the Young Actuaries World Cup

The Institute is proud to announce that three outstanding members will be representing Canada at the Young Actuaries World Cup (YAWC): Julia Perugini, Matthew Di Nicolantonio, and Mouna Chajie. These talented actuaries will compete alongside 54 other contestants for the chance to gain global recognition.

About the competition

Organized by the International Actuarial Association (IAA), the YAWC returns for its second iteration to spotlight the next generation of actuarial talent from around the world. The culmination of the competition will take place during the International Congress of Actuaries (ICA) in Tokyo, Japan, in November 2026, and offers emerging professionals a unique opportunity to showcase their skills and perspectives on a global platform.

Actuaries under 35 were asked to explore how actuarial science can address real-world challenges, embrace technological advancements, and promote a more ethical and inclusive future under the theme of “Tradition, Diversity and Innovation.” To enter, participants submitted a 3-minute video presenting their personal interpretation of the theme.

Qualification rounds for each continental zone will be announced on September 30, 2025, and finalists will be invited to participate and present at ICA2026 in Tokyo.

Mouna is a CIA Candidate with over eight years of experience in risk management and innovation. She holds a master’s degree in actuarial science and finance and is passionate about applying actuarial tools to real-world issues beyond traditional domains. Her recent focus bridges actuarial science and personal wellness through creative modelling and data-driven tools.
