Use your leadership skills and become the next chair of the Professional Conduct Board
Step into the esteemed role of Chair of the Professional Conduct Board (PCB) and use your decision-making and collaborative skills to lead a group of dedicated volunteers who handle the CIA’s disciplinary process and recommend changes as needed.
What is the PCB? The purpose of the PCB is to handle all disciplinary matters concerning CIA members except the constitution and conduct of disciplinary tribunals. The PCB acts as a prosecutor once it determines that a disciplinary matter requires the filing of a charge. It also provides CIA members with counselling and education concerning disciplinary topics.
The CIA supports the PCB in the performance of its activities. In doing so, the CIA respects the PCB’s independence, which is not subject to direction or influence by the CIA or other representatives of the actuarial profession. The PCB reports to the Actuarial Profession Oversight Board (APOB) whose purpose is to support the CIA on its promise to hold the duty of the profession to the public above the needs of the profession and its members.
What would I do as Chair? The PCB Chair leads PCB meetings and may appoint PCB subgroups upon reception of complaints. The PCB Chair acts as a liaison within the CIA and APOB.
When would I be Chair? All PCB members including the chair are appointed by APOB. APOB intends to select a candidate for the PCB Chair position as soon as possible for onboarding purposes. The three-year-term of the Chair of PCB will begin July 1, 2027.
How do I apply? Fellows who are interested should submit their cover letter and résumé to Leona Campbell, Project Manager, Professional Practice and Conduct, by June 15.

Learn what our volunteers say
CIA volunteers have made significant contributions to the profession, and their experiences have positively affected their professional journeys. Hear directly from them about how volunteering with the Institute has helped them grow and shaped their careers.

Volunteering is more than just service – it’s an opportunity to better understand others. Contacts that I established early in my career have lasted a lifetime and been extremely beneficial, both to my advancement as a person and as an actuary.
Franklin Reynolds
(Lifetime Award)

My various volunteer roles with the CIA have reinforced the importance of collaboration in driving innovation, adding value, and shaping a forward-thinking future.
Yeh Ching Seto
(Award of Distinction)

I’ve been able to use volunteering as a way of fulfilling my other interests outside of the technical aspects of being an actuary. I originally planned to be a teacher when I went to university, so getting involved in actuarial education by volunteering scratched that teaching itch.
Erin Crump
(Award of Excellence)
