This research was conducted by Ad Res Reinsurance Services GmbH and supervised by a project oversight group of the CIA’s Research Council.
The report contains mortality tables that reflect the experience of Canadian pensioners and their spouses up to January 1, 2024, and includes separate tables for widows and widowers. Unlike the previous edition (CPM2014), which has two sets of tables – one for public-sector plans and one for private – the report now offers three sets for greater flexibility.
The Actuarial Standards Board is reviewing the research and will decide at a future date whether the new tables should be adopted as the standard for determining commuted values. The Pension Plan Financial Reporting Committee is also developing guidance related to the CPM2024 tables.
At present, table CPM2014 remains the standard for valuations.
