Explore this collection of materials published by the CIA to help members in their Canadian actuarial practice.
Responsibility for the Standards of Practice lies with the Actuarial Standards Board. The approval of standards and changes to standards is done through a process that includes consultation with the actuarial profession and other interested parties. The standards are intended for the benefit of the public. The work in Canada of a member of a professional actuarial organization is expected to conform to these standards of practice.
Guidance material is developed by the Actuarial Guidance Council and its committees and includes educational notes and educational note supplements. Educational notes are intended to illustrate the application of the standards of practice but are not binding. Responsibility for the manner of application of standards of practice in specific circumstances remains that of an individual member.

Such documents may be particularly helpful to members practicing in small or emerging areas.
