Mary H. Trussell

A partner within the insurance practice of KPMG in Canada, Mary brings deep expertise covering the entire range of insurance markets, from life and health and personal lines to specialty risks and reinsurance, across the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, and North America. In addition to her audit responsibilities, she advises clients on how to best address the challenges of financial reporting, regulatory change, and improving performance. She regularly speaks on financial reporting, governance, and regulatory matters affecting insurers as well as more general business developments. Mary has particular experience advising clients as they undertake mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity or enter new markets, and has assisted a number of companies with initial public offerings (IPOs), securities listings, and demutualization. Furthermore, she has used her experience with governance, enterprise-wide risk management, and capital management to advise a number of financial services regulatory authorities on regulatory policy and practice, most recently assisting a number of financial conglomerates in the run-up to Solvency II. As a member of KPMG's global insurance leadership team, Mary focuses on innovation and high-growth markets and leads the development of many of KPMG International’s global thought leadership for the insurance industry.
