Session 9 • Behaviour, Psychology, and Insurance

Can we use insights from behavioural and psychological research to improve how we write life insurance? The first half of this session looks at behavioural and psychological drivers of mortality and considers the future possibilities of incorporating new evidence into underwriting beyond traditional biometric risk factors. The second half discusses how insurers can use insights from behavioural economics to improve a range of customer insurance behaviours including more complete disclosure, higher policyholder retention, increased sales, and reduced response times for attending physician statements.
