Session 34 • Critical Illness Insurance Risk – Linking the Past to the Future

In the first half of 2016, the CIA is set to publish the results of the third critical illness (CI) claims study covering policies from 2002 to 2014. Although actuaries need to consider past claim experience to determine an incidence rate baseline, this is just the starting point as other forces are at play. This session examines the most up-to-date claims incidence results from the CIA CI study with a focus on medical developments that could move incidence rates up or down in the future. An interesting topic for pricing actuaries as well as those in corporate risk management.
