Session 19 • Update on Research Funded by the CIA and other Actuarial Associations with Important Implications for Actuaries: Does Demographic Change Affect Economic Growth and Asset Values?

With the populations of many developed countries growing older, there are several potential effects on future asset class returns. The CIA is a partner in a multi-national (U.S., Canada, and UK) multi-disciplinary (actuarial science, economics, and finance) research team exploring this linkage. This session will present the preliminary results achieved to date and will provide comments on the future direction of the research.
