Bonnie-Jeanne MacDonald

Bonnie-Jeanne MacDonald is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, an academic researcher at Dalhousie University in Halifax, and a resident scholar at Eckler. Her research focuses on financial security for an aging population. By combining best practices from the academic world with contemplation and ingenuity, while collaborating with the top minds in this field, her goal is to improve the retirement financial security of people in practice (not just in theory).

Ms. MacDonald received the 2001 Gold Medal in Actuarial Science (Hon BSc) at the University of Western Ontario and a PhD in actuarial mathematics at Heriot-Watt University in Scotland. In 2011, she was selected as one of the top young economists by the Canadian government to attend the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Germany. In 2014, her research won the 30th International Congress of Actuaries' Pension, Benefits and Social Security Scientific Committee award for Best Paper.

She has published numerous academic research papers on a wide range of topics and is a regularly invited speaker to industry, government, and academia. Her ideas are increasingly gaining traction in Canada and abroad.
