Tuesday, September 11
Noon to 1:30 p.m. EDT
Offered in English

Robin Bourke, engineering advisor, flood modelling, Natural Resources Canada
Michelle Poirier, geomatics advisor, flood mapping, Natural Resources Canada
Paula McLeod, program manager, Natural Resources Canada

Flooding is Canada’s costliest recurring natural hazard, and flood losses as measured by insurance payouts and Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements (DFAA) transfers have increased over the past several decades.

This webcast includes an update from the Flood Mapping Committee (FMC), followed by information about federal flood programs (including the National Disaster Mitigation Program) from Public Safety Canada, and a flood mapping update from Natural Resources Canada. The speakers will discuss the Federal Flood Mapping Guideline Series, including documents nearing publication. They will present on incorporating climate change into flood mapping, including the current approaches and challenges, and a guideline series document on climate change case studies. Discussions will include upcoming work, followed by an opportunity to ask questions of the FMC.

If you have any questions, please contact Roxanne Vézina, coordinator, membership and education, at 613-236-8196 ext 111.
