Hurry, Early-Bird Registration Ends Friday

Join us September 17–18 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre for two days of intensive learning, networking, and discussion.

Seminar for the Appointed Actuary

Numerous dedicated IFRS sessions underscore the importance of IFRS 17 and its impact on CIA members. These include updates from the Committee on Property and Casualty Financial Reporting (PCFRC) as well as standard setting and educational guidance for IFRS 17. Attendees will also hear about current reinsurance markets and frameworks, ERM, LICAT, DCAT, and updates from the Actuarial Standards Board (ASB) and the Committee on Life Insurance Financial Reporting (CLIFR).

Actuarial Evidence Seminar

The demand for AE skills takes centre stage as we look at economic valuation topics, medical malpractice, auto insurance reforms in Ontario, the move to in-house legal practice by insurers, and challenges presented by the changing demographics of AE practitioners.

Joint Sessions

Three joint sessions are open to both AA and AE attendees:

  • In Triangles Reimagined, Chris Gross presents his revised framework for the loss development triangle. For comparison, Jim Cameron will describe features of case reserves set by claims adjusters.
  • From setting reserves with limited information after an accident to calculating loss of income and negotiating settlement for a loss-of-income case—learn about the financial cycle of an automobile accident from beginning to end.
  • Explore the legal and ethical problems around autonomous vehicles and examine their impact on insurance companies, lawyers, and actuaries.
Register Now

For an additional charge, AE guests are invited to network with CIA colleagues at the Seminar for the Appointed Actuary networking event the evening of Monday, September 17.

The early-bird registration for both seminars ends Friday, August 24. Don’t wait, register for the AA or AE seminar now to save.
