Draft Educational Note: Life Insurance Capital Adequacy Test (LICAT) and Capital Adequacy Requirements for Life and Health Insurance (CARLI)

This draft educational note provides guidance to actuaries preparing the Life Insurance Capital Adequacy Test (LICAT) of the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) or Capital Adequacy Requirements for Life and Health Insurance (CARLI) of the Autorité des marchés financiers. These new capital standards will be effective January 1, 2018.

The objective of this draft educational note is to assist with interpretation of LICAT requirements and to narrow the range of practice in application of the new capital standards.
