Thursday, December 10, 2015
12:45 pm to 1:45 pm EDT

The mission of the Actuarial Standards Oversight Council (ASOC) is to serve the public interest by supporting the Actuarial Standards Board (ASB) in its mission, overseeing its work and providing input into its activities. The ASOC has a broad, public-oriented perspective of the complex issues facing the ASB, due to the composition of its membership, which is made up of savvy, experienced individuals from inside and outside the actuarial profession.

The ASB, founded in 2007, is an independent body with the authority and responsibility for establishing actuarial Standards of Practice in Canada.

You are invited:

Who: The public, journalists, and actuaries.

What: ASOC Public Meeting

Why: Because you have an interest in actuarial standards of practice as they relate to pensions, insurance, and benefit programs.

Moderator: Michel Benoit, ASOC

Guest Speakers: Mark J. Fuller, LLB, CEO and president, Ontario Pension Board
William Onuwa, global head of risk wealth management, Insurance & RBC Georgia, RBC

The panel will discuss the major business/risk issues affecting organizations over the next five to 10 years and what, if any, standard setting responses might be needed in the public interest.

Join us to share your thoughts on the ASOC, the ASB, and the actuarial standard-setting process. Attendance at the meeting can be used towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD) professionalism credits.
