Moderator and Speaker Information

Thank you for agreeing to participate in the CIA Annual Meeting being held in St. John’s, Newfoundland, on June 28–29. Below is the information you need to know in order to prepare for the event. 

Presentation Information and Guidelines

The moderator of each session is encouraged to arrange a conference call with all session speakers prior to the meeting. If you have not received a call from either the moderator or lead speaker of your session four weeks before the meeting, please notify Caroline Thebault

The Canadian Institute of Actuaries strongly urges all speakers to use presentation materials. While it is not mandatory to use the CIA Meeting Template, it is highly recommended to ensure a consistent format for the entire meeting.  

Acknowledgement and Release

The CIA records all sessions. If you do not wish to have your session recorded, please notify Nancy Jenkinson. Otherwise, all presenters must sign the CIA’s Acknowledgement and Release form on-site. 

Presentation Uploading – Deadline: June 10

We request that all presentations be submitted as original PowerPoint files. They will be converted to PDF files prior to being posted on the CIA website. If you do not intend to have a presentation or handouts for your session, please notify Caroline Thebault

Logistics

Registration  
All moderators and presenters are required to register for the meeting—the deadline is June 10. Discounted registration rates are available for all moderators and speakers.

Hotel Accommodations
As this is high season for tourism in St. John’s and guest rooms are limited, to ensure that registrants to the CIA Annual Meeting are able to secure a room at the host hotel adjacent to the St. John’s Convention Centre, the hotel reservation procedure will be provided to delegates only upon confirmation of registration to the meeting. 

After registering, you will receive a confirmation e-mail that will include a code to use for reservations by phone or online. 

On-site
Upon arrival at the hotel, please pick up your registration materials and name badge at the CIA Speaker Registration Desk. The desk will be open as follows:

Tuesday June 28: 7:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
Wednesday June 29: 7:00 a.m.–15:00 p.m.

The exact room location of your session will be listed in the final program that will be provided when you pick up your registration packet at the Speaker Registration Desk.
